Update 2021/06/16 11:55:St. Albert RCMP continue to investigate two separate car jackings and two attempted car jackings that occurred earlier this morning around 8:45 a.m. The individuals involved in all the offences used a firearm or replica firearm to commit the acts. The situation was fluid and police were tracking the suspects in many areas of St. Albert thus St. Albert RCMP placed some schools and daycares in a “Hold & Secure” as a precautionary measure.
When a hold & secure is called by the RCMP details of the unfolding event are not provided to the location to expedite the process and to ensure the safety of the occupants.
A “Hold & Secure” is issued in response to activity in the community, not inside the location (school/daycare). During a Hold & Secure, doors to the location are locked, with no one permitted in or out of the building.
St. Albert RCMP were able to locate and arrest two males believed to be involved. No one was injured in the above events and the investigation is ongoing.
*Note* - St. Albert RCMP will be available at 1:45 p.m. outside the main detachment on Bellerose Drive for any on camera/interview inquiries.
