RCMP educate public on relinquishing weapons/firearms

St. Albert RCMP want to raise awareness with the community regarding the process of relinquishing any weapons or firearms they may have in their possession.

Whether the weapon/firearm was found or the individual does not want it anymore, citizens have two options to turn such items over to the police:

  1. Call St. Albert RCMP at 780-458-7700 and have a member attend their residence to retrieve the weapon or firearm.
  2. Attend the detachment with the weapon or firearm but leave the item secured in your vehicle and attend the front counter for further instructions.

*At no time should anyone bring a weapon or firearm they wish to surrender to police into the St. Albert RCMP Detachment*
*If transporting a firearm to the detachment, please adhere to safe storage and transport of a firearm laid out in the Criminal Code*

Any weapon or firearm relinquished to the RCMP will be sent out for destruction.

If you observe suspicious activity or have information on any crime, you are asked to contact the St. Albert RCMP at 780-458-7700 or your local police. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the “P3 Tips” app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
