Suspect in Custody following a Stabbing in St. Albert

St. Albert, Alberta – At approximately 10:50 p.m. January 31st, 2018 police responded to a call for assistance regarding an altercation between several people in the Grandin area of St. Albert. Information received was that two victims had been stabbed and that suspect(s) fled the area on foot. Multiple officers were dispatched and located two people suffering from multiple stab wounds. They were both transported by ground ambulance to an Edmonton hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A male suspect was quickly apprehended near by the scene with the assistance of the Edmonton Police Services Air One helicopter.

A 35 year old male is in custody facing multiple assault and weapons related charges.

This is not believed to be a random event and it is believed that the people involved knew each other.

St. Albert RCMP are asking anyone that lives in the Grenfell/Gatewood area of St. Albert to call if they have information or knowledge that would help investigate this crime. As the suspect may have been in some backyards, property owners may want to check their property to ensure there have been no damages or any property left behind by the suspect.
