RCMP investigate robbery (with photos)

On July 14, 2022, at approximately 3:00 p.m., two individuals who were selling a Rolex watch had made arrangements to meet with a potential Kijiji buyer inside the reception area of TD Canada Trust Bank on Inglewood Drive. The potential buyer arrived, exchanged small talk with the sellers and then asked to see the watch. When one of the sellers gave the watch to the male suspect to view, he looked at it and then proceeded to run out of the bank. The two sellers pursued after the male suspect who was running east behind the bank towards Inglewood Drive.

While giving chase, the male suspect reached into his black satchel he was wearing across his chest, pulled out bear spray and discharged it into one of the seller’s face as they ran down Inglewood Drive. The sellers continued to chase the suspect but the individual who was bear sprayed fell down on the grass by Speedy Auto Glass, while the seconded seller proceeded to follow the suspect towards St. Albert Bowling Alley.

The suspect ran into the St. Albert Bowling Alley parking lot towards the north side of the building and got into what police believe to be a 2010-2012 Steel Blue Metallic Ford Escape. The suspect vehicle leaves the parking lot out of the north entrance. The second seller who was still pursuing the suspect ran in front of the Ford Escape, getting struck by the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle did not stop and proceeded southbound on Inglewood Drive.

The seller who was struck by the suspect vehicle was transported via ambulance to Sturgeon Hospital for precautionary measures, later released and the seller who was bear sprayed was provided first aid on scene.

The male suspect is described as:

St. Albert RCMP want to remind the Community about the Safe Internet Exchange Zone which is a safe place for St. Albert citizens to utilize when meeting to buy and sell items online. The Safe Internet Exchange Zone is located in the parking lot at Servus Place (400 Campbell Road). The two marked parking stalls at Servus Place, provide easy access in a less busy area of the parking lot, and few obstructions ensuring continuous video surveillance. This site may also be utilized for child custody exchanges. The Safe Internet Exchange Zone will be open 24/7 for exchange of items purchased off the internet on Kijiji, Facebook buy/sell sites, Marketplace, etc. providing buyers and sellers with the knowledge that the site is under 24 hour video surveillance. Residents are encouraged to visit the site during daytime hours.

St. Albert RCMP recovered the Rolex watch but are still looking to identify the male suspect.
