RCMP charge a male with four business break & enters

On November 12, 2023, at approximately 1:25 a.m., St. Albert RCMP responded to a business break & enter at a gas station on Carnegie Drive where the front glass door of the business was smashed and numerous packages of cigarettes were stolen. Video surveillance was obtained and showed an unknown male suspect inside the business and a white hatchback vehicle driving away, believed to be the get-away car.

While police were patrolling the area for the suspect, they came across a hair salon on Carnegie Drive with a smashed window. The business had been entered and some money, hair tools and hair products had been stolen. Video surveillance was obtained and showed an unknown male exiting a white Volkswagen GTI, grabbed a crow bar from the car hatch, smashed the front window and crawled into the salon.

It was determined, through video surveillance, the same unknown male suspect broke into both businesses and the white Volkswagen GTI was used as transportation.

On November 14, 2023 at approximately 2:10 a.m., St. Albert RCMP responded to another break & enter at the same gas station on Carnegie Drive. The front glass door was smashed and numerous packages of cigarettes and money were stolen. Video surveillance showed the same white Volkswagen GTI parked outside and the same unknown male suspect committing the offence.

On November 16, 2023 @ approximately 2:30 a.m., St. Albert RCMP received a call from an alarm company stating a break & enter at a car dealership on Galarneau Place had just occurred and the unknown male suspect stole a gold SUV from inside the dealership. St. Albert RCMP responded and Edmonton Police Service Helicopter (Air 1) advised they were in the area to assist.

Air 1 was able to track the stolen SUV into Edmonton and with the assistance of Edmonton Police Service, two individuals were arrested on 170 Street & 114 Avenue. St. Albert RCMP attended said location and took custody of a male & female. The male was driving the stolen SUV and the female, driving a stolen white Volkswagen GTI, was following the stolen SUV. Both vehicles were tracked by Air 1 and were travelling in a pair from St. Albert.

From evidence obtained, St. Albert RCMP believed the male individual who was arrested in the stolen SUV, was also the unknown male suspect involved in the three business break & enters that occurred on November 12, 2023 and November 14, 2023 in St. Albert.
