RCMP charge male with attempted murder

On October 10, 2021 at approximately 8:35 a.m., St. Albert RCMP attended a residence in the Akinsdale area to assist Emergency Medical Services with a child who sustained multiple stab wounds. The child was transported to an Edmonton hospital in stable condition.

St. Albert RCMP arrested an adult male without incident for attempted murder at the residence. The male, a St. Albert resident, was transported to an Edmonton hospital with injuries and remains in hospital in stable condition.

St. Albert RCMP want to assure the community that this was an isolated incident, all individuals were known to each other and the general public was not at risk. The St. Albert RCMP are not looking for any other suspects involved in the incident.

Due to a publication ban, the identify of the male charged with attempted murder will not be released and no other information will be provided at this time to protect the child and family’s identity.
