RCMP charge 3 drivers under new Provincial Sanctions for Impaired Driving

It was a busy day for St. Albert RCMP members, who dealt with three separate Impaired Driving investigations. The first complaint received on July 15, 2021 at approximately 00:06 a.m., was the result of a single motor vehicle collision when a vehicle hit the ditch on Villeneuve Road. A St. Albert General Duty member and a St. Albert Traffic Unit member responded, located the grey PT Cruiser in the ditch and the lone occupant was not injured in the collision. Police conducted an investigation and the female driver (27) of Edmonton, Alta. was charged under the new Alberta Provincial Sanctions for Impaired Driving.

At approximately 1:05 a.m. St. Albert RCMP received a call about a Honda Ridgeline that drove off the road and crashed into a tree on Liberton Drive. The vehicle had extensive damage but the lone male driver (33) of St. Albert, Alta. was not injured. Police conducted an investigation and the male driver was charged under the new Alberta Provincial Sanctions for Impaired Driving.

The third call for service was received at approximately 8:12 p.m. of an erratic driver on St. Albert Trail, who may be impaired. A St. Albert General Duty officer responded, along with a St. Albert Traffic Unit member and located the grey Infiniti in the parking lot of the St. Albert Bowling Alley. Police conducted an investigation and the male driver (20) of Edmonton, Alta. was charged under the new Alberta Provincial Sanctions for Impaired Driving. The male driver was also charged under the Criminal Code with Assault Police Officer x 2 and Resist Arrest. He is scheduled to appear in St. Albert Provincial Court on September 7, 2021 relating to those criminal charges.
