RCMP Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design

The Alberta Crime Prevention theme for April is Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). CPTED is an internationally recognized tool to help promote growth in communities and encourage safe activities throughout. CPTED is a crime prevention theory focusing on tactical design and the effective use of the built environment, which when applied, reduces both crime and the fear of crime.

St. Albert RCMP want to remind citizens about the CPTED principles when conducting spring yard clean up and planning for summer projects, keeping I mind: natural surveillance, natural access control, territorial reinforcement and space management/maintenance.

Things to Remember:

St. Albert RCMP encourage the public to report any criminal or suspicious activity to the RCMP Detachment at 780-458-7700. Reports tell us where to look, who to look for, and where to patrol in the future. If you see a crime in progress, dial 911. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the “P3 Tips” app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
