RCMP arrest a male on outstanding warrants

On November 12, 2020, the St. Albert RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) arrested Douglass Poplett (41) of St. Albert on numerous outstanding warrants related to Fraud, Identify Theft and Flight from Police. Douglas Poplett was actively avoiding his apprehension by the police for his outstanding warrants and he is known as a prolific property crime offender.

St. Albert RCMP CRU was able to located and arrest Douglas Poplett without incident. At the time of his arrest Douglas Poplett was in possession of methamphetamine and stolen identification, which was taken from an unlocked vehicle in St. Albert the day prior to his arrest and was used in fraudulent transactions.

Along with his outstanding warrants, Douglas Poplett was charged with the following:

Following a Judicial Hearing, Douglas Poplett was released from custody and will appear in St. Albert Provincial Court on Dec. 7, 2020.

St. Albert RCMP have completed several fraud and identify theft investigations in recent weeks. A common trend in these investigations is that the suspect(s) steal identification from unlocked vehicles. The St. Albert RCMP want to remind citizens to remove valuables and lock their vehicles as part of the “Lock It Up” #9PM Routine project, which was launched in St. Albert over a year ago.
