RCMP Motorcycle Safety

On April 9, 2021 @ approximately 6:40 p.m., St. Albert RCMP responded to their first motorcycle collision of the season on Lester Crescent. The motorcyclist was cut off by a truck, hit the curb and fell off the bike onto the road. The motorcyclist sustained non-life threatening injuries and transported to hospital by ground ambulance.

St. Albert RCMP remind all drivers to share the road safely with motorcycles. Motorcycle crashes peak in the summer as warmer weather and conditions bring more riders onto the road. Motorcycles are smaller than passenger vehicles, harder to see and do not offer the protection of a frame, seatbelts or airbags.

To help prevent a crash with a motorcycle, drivers should follow these tips:

Motorcyclists should follow basic safety tips to reduce chances of crashing or being seriously injured:St. Albert RCMP encourage the public to report any criminal or suspicious activity to the RCMP Detachment at 780-458-7700. Reports tell us where to look, who to look for, and where to patrol in the future. If you see a crime in progress, dial 911.
