RCMP Drug Unit execute search warrant

On June 11, 2021, St. Albert RCMP Drug Unit (SADU), with the assistance of the RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT), St. Albert General Investigation Section (GIS), St. Albert Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and St. Albert Traffic Services, executed a search warrant at a residence on Hwy 28A, Sturgeon County, Alta., after a 6 month drug trafficking investigation.

The following items were seized from the property:

GHB is known for its ability to increase libido, suggestibility, passivity, and to cause amnesia, which makes users/victims vulnerable to sexual assault and other criminal acts. At bars or rave parties GHB is typically sold in liquid form by the capful or swig for $5-$25 per cap. The street value of the GHB seized from the property, if sold in 5 millilitres quantities (1 teaspoon/capful) @ $10.00 is equal to $106,000.00.

Stephen Andreas Hesmert (30) of Edmonton, Alta. was arrested and charged with the following:Stephen Hesmert was remanded in custody and will appear in Edmonton Provincial Court on July 6, 2021.


Corbin Mathew Ross (32) of Edmonton, Alta. was arrested and charged with the following:Corbin Ross was released from custody on bail and will appear in Edmonton Provincial Court on July 14, 2021


Kurt Eric Lemke (42) of Sturgeon County, Alta. was arrested and charged with the following:Kurt Lemke was released from custody and will appear in St. Albert Provincial Court on July 26, 2021.
