St. Albert RCMP Annual Performance Plan & Survey

St. Albert RCMP Annual Performance Plan (APP) is into the final quarter reporting period (Jan 01, 2021 – March 31, 2021) and preparations are underway for the 2021/22 APP.

Inspector Ryan Comaniuk assumed the role of detachment commander on January 4, 2021 and is currently in consultation with the St. Albert Policing Committee to gain a starting point into community policing service needs and delivery expectations for the next APP. The St. Albert RCMP in conjunction with the St. Albert Policing Committee is seeking public input into this process as well. A survey is available on the St. Albert Policing Committee’s website for St. Albert residents to participate and provide information and feed back. Citizens can access the St. Albert Policing Committees website at https://conversation.stalbert.ca/policing-committee. This consultation process runs until the end of February with the new APP launching on April 01, 2021. Inspector Comaniuk encourages all St. Albert residents to go online and participate in the survey, providing their input and ideas for a safe community.

The public engagement component of this process is critical. It is important for community participants to understand how crime and other categories of policing activities are trending. For example, during the 2018 calendar year, the RCMP received 71 calls for service under the category of the Mental Health Act (MHA). Comparably, during the 2020 calendar year, those calls for service under the MHA more than doubled to 162. It is these types of trends that have a significant impact on policing operations and service delivery to the community. For these reasons, the RCMP in cooperation with the St. Albert Policing Committee make the APP accessible to the public on the City of St. Albert website under St. Albert Policing Committee. https://stalbert.ca/site/assets/files/5252/2020-21_app_priorities_final.pdf
