RCMP charge male with theft of motor vehicle and possession of stolen property

On April 25, 2023 at approximately 2:35 a.m., a St. Albert RCMP officer was patrolling in Deer Ridge sub-division and noticed a silver Honda Accord parked at Deer Ridge Park. The member was aware of a silver Honda Accord which was stolen from a fast food restaurant in St. Albert on April 22, 2023. The member approached the vehicle and performed a police check on the license plate, which did not match the Honda Accord, and was reported stolen. When the male exited the Accord, the member recognized him as the same individual who was responsible for the vehicle theft from the restaurant, which was recorded on video surveillance. The male exited the vehicle and took off running into Deer Ridge Park. The officer pursued the male on foot to Muriel Martin School, where the male gave up and was taken into custody without further incident.
