RCMP: Mail Theft
On April 20, 2021, St. Albert RCMP received a call regarding mailboxes (superboxes) which had been broken into along Erin Ridge Drive & Ellington Crescent. There was no way to determine what/if any mail was stolen but because it is a busy time of year for tax returns, St. Albert RCMP wanted to remind citizens about some basic safety tips regarding mail & parcel delivery:
- Check your mail every day
- If you plan to be away, have a trusted neighbour or family member check your mail
- Plan to be home when packages are supposed to arrive or arrange an alternate pickup location
- Do not mail cash
- Track your shipments, and if possible, opt for a “signature required” delivery
- Consider installing surveillance cameras
