RCMP proactive patrols recover a stolen vehicle and firearms

On December 14, 2022 at approximately 12:40 a.m., St. Albert RCMP members were proactively patrolling and located a grey GMC Sierra truck parked on the side of the roadway in Ridgewood Terrace with an obstructed license plate. GMC Sierra trucks are commonly stolen thus members stopped to investigate. Police checks on the vehicle license plate and VIN showed the truck was stolen out of Tofield, Alta. on December 11, 2022.

When the stolen truck was seized by police, the following items were located inside:

The truck was towed to a local tow yard and sometime between 2:00 a.m. and 5:50 a.m. an unknown individual(s) broke into the tow yard and the truck was stolen again. Later that morning the stolen truck was recovered in Edmonton by Edmonton Police Service.

St. Albert RCMP continue to investigate but have not identified who may be responsible for these thefts.
