RCMP partner with local businesses to curb catalytic converter thefts

In response to the numerous Catalytic Converter thefts in the city, St. Albert RCMP has partnered with local businesses for ‘Tag your Cat’ to curb these thefts. This initiative will allow citizens of St. Albert to take their vehicles to any of the below listed repair shops to have their catalytic converter etched with their VIN number. Having an identifying number on the catalytic converter will assist St. Albert RCMP members and other policing agencies in recovery of stolen catalytic converters, and providing essential evidence to further criminal investigations. This program is already in place in many communities in the province, and everyone who participates is provided consistent decals easily identifiable through the province.

If any other local automotive repair shops are interested in participating in this program, please contact the St. Albert RCMP at 780-458-7700 for more information.

St. Albert RCMP encourage the public to report any criminal or suspicious activity. Reports tell us where to look, who to look for, and where to patrol in the future. If you see a crime in progress, dial 911. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the “P3 Tips” app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
